Considered the leader in surfboard design for many years, Pat is the most in demand shaper in Hawaii, still the worldwide capital of surfing. His specialty are boards for huge waves, “guns”, which are quite common in Hawaii, and in this field there is no shaper who makes a better board for this type of wave.
His knowledge of materials for huge waves and the fact that his son, Ryan, is an avid tow-in surfer, have opened the doors for Pat to investigate and design tow-in boards. Ryan, together with Makua Rothman, won the award for the biggest wave ridden in 2002. Great designer and "connaisseur" of Retro boards.
